A single mother, Carolee went to work for a private accounting firm, and then began her career in local government working for the C.E.T.A. Program as the Senior Financial Officer. During the next three decades, she served as the City's Deputy Treasurer, the Monroe County Deputy County Clerk, and the City Clerk of Rochester. In each increasingly responsible position, Carolee successfully found ways to offer better service to taxpayers with increased savings. As City Clerk, she found new sources of revenue and reached greater levels of service. She achieved a better than 95% customer approval rating among the holders of the 25,000 licenses the City Clerk's office issued each year. Her extensive volunteer service has allowed Carolee to give something back to Rochester, while helping to better understand the people who live here. She has served as an active volunteer and board member of the YWCA, Corn Hill Navigation, American Association of University Women, Women Helping Girls (ten years as treasurer), Alternatives For Battered Women (five years as treasurer), and Vestry of the Church of Ascension. As Vice-President of International Sister Cities of Rochester, Carolee has traveled to most of Rochester's eleven (soon to be 12) Sister Cities as an official delegate of the Mayor. In June 2009 she will become the President of International Sister Cities of Rochester.
Carolee has served for ten
years on the Local Governments Records Advisory Council of the New
York State Archives (the last five years as Chair). The Council
annually awards millions of grant dollars to local governments for
records projects. |
